As you drive through Lynnbrooke, the streets feel settled and residential, with mature landscaping and homes that have changed over the years as owners made them their own. The neighborhood was built in the mid-1980s, yet it does not have a copy-and-paste feel. Lot sizes, street positions, views, and remodeling vary enough that two homes with the same original floorplan can live very differently.

Close to the Trails

The cul-de-sac streets are a real part of the appeal. Some homes sit on larger, more private lots, and a few back toward open space or look out toward the hills. The Lynnmere Trail is nearby, so a morning walk, bike ride, or trail ride does not have to start with loading up the car and driving across town.

Wildwood Regional Park and the Lynnmere Trail

Some routes stay closer to the neighborhood. Others carry on through canyons and up toward the ridges, where the views open up toward Mount Clef Ridge and the Conejo Valley.

Wildwood is the kind of park people use in different ways. You might take the dogs out for an hour, hike down to Paradise Falls, or spend a longer morning on the trails around Lizard Rock and Wildwood Canyon. The park has picnic areas, benches, restrooms, barbecue grills, and plenty of trail choices. Paradise Falls can be busy on weekends, especially after good rain, so locals who want a quieter walk often go earlier in the day or during the week.

Janss Marketplace and The Oaks

Janss Marketplace is nearby for the practical side of the day, though it has a nicer feel than a quick errand stop. It is open-air, with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and outdoor seating scattered around the center. The splash fountain is built around the Chumash sculpture In Praise to the Great Spirit, and the nearby fenced play area, benches, shade, and patio tables make it easy to stay a little longer after lunch or coffee.

The Oaks is also close by when you need a broader selection of stores, a movie, or dinner out. Between The Oaks and Janss Marketplace, you can handle the usual shopping, meet friends, catch a movie, or take the kids out without making a long drive.

Swimmers love the Community Pool at CLU! The heated, year-round pool is operated by the Conejo Recreation and Park District and offers group and private swim lessons, lap swimming, recreational swim, pool parties, and American Red Cross lifeguard and water-safety training.

Locals can use the pool through CRPD’s lap-swim program, either by reserving a lane or using available walk-in times. Recreational swim is offered seasonally, generally from late May through early September, with no reservation required and the low, low admission fee is a real treat for locals looking to cool down during the hot summer days! Class registration, schedules, and seasonal passes are available through CRPD Aquatics. Hours change with the season, so it is worth checking the current schedule before heading over.

Schools and Education

Conejo Valley Public Schools

Lynnbrooke is in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. The neighborhood’s assigned public-school path is generally Madroña Academy of the Arts and Sciences for TK–5, Redwood Middle School for grades 6–8, and Thousand Oaks High School for grades 9–12.

As of August 2026, GreatSchools lists Madroña at 8/10, Redwood at 7/10, and Thousand Oaks High at 8/10. Ratings are only one outside measure, but they give families a useful place to begin while they look at programs, current data, and the individual school community.

There are several recognized public schools nearby within CVUSD. Aspen Elementary received the 2023 California Distinguished School award. Wildwood Elementary is a California Distinguished School, and Weathersfield Elementary received the 2020 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. These are not the assigned Lynnbrooke schools, though they may matter to families considering district choice options or a move elsewhere in Thousand Oaks.

Cal Lutheran and Local Private Schools

California Lutheran University is nearby, offering public lectures, performing arts, sporting events, and continuing-education opportunities to local Thousand Oaks residents.

Private-school options nearby include St. Paschal Baylon School, serving kindergarten through eighth grade; Hillcrest Christian School, serving preschool through high school; Ascension Lutheran School, serving TK through eighth grade; and Bethany Christian School, serving preschool through eighth grade. Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village serves grades 4–12.
