Here’s what you deserve to know about each district.
Conejo Valley School District
The Conejo Valley School District serves the Thousand Oaks and the Ventura County side of Westlake. Each offers a School of Choice policy allowing children to attend schools outside of their school district if there is space available. Even if your home isn’t in proximity to the best school, your children will still have the chance to go to one of the area’s Distinguished Schools, Blue Ribbon Schools, or Gold Ribbon Schools, which have been designated by the state (and the nation) for their exemplary achievements, practices, and programs. All districts include three types of schools:
Public Schools
If you live in a neighborhood, you usually have access to the designated public school for that neighborhood. Each offers a School of Choice policy allowing children to attend schools outside of their school district if there is space available.Private Schools
The Conejo Valley and surrounding communities have many tuition-based private schools, including Oaks Christian School, which is a major private high school in the area and competes with some of the best in all Southern California.Magnet Schools
The district also has magnet schools for those seeking alternative learning, with theme-focused schools that specialize in the arts, science, leadership, and more. The schools are run by the public-school system and are free of charge, with applicants chosen through a lottery system based on available space.Adult Schools
Each district has their own public Adult School Education programs that offer academic and vocational classes.
