After raising our own family – and watching them raise their family – we‘ve gathered enough first-hand knowledge to help you make the right decision for your own children with ease.
Here’s what you deserve to know about each district.
Award Winning School Districts
Our local communities are served by highly regarded and award-winning top rated school distric districts.
Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), serving Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, and the Ventura County portion of Westlake Village.
Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD), serving Agoura Hills, Calabasas, and the Los Angeles County portion of Westlake Village.
Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD), serving the community of Oak Park.
Simi Valley Unified School District (SVUSD), serving Simi Valley and parts of the surrounding area.
Moorpark Unified School District (MUSD), serving the city of Moorpark.
Which one applies depends on your residence address. What happens if you don’t like the school that serves your address? A lot of families who are commited to providing an excellent eduction for their children, like knowing there’s flexibility.
Luckily, all our school districts offer School of Choice options. Your child may be able to attend a school within, or outside, your assigned district, if there is room available. So even if you don’t live right around the corner from the “best” school, you’re not automatically out of luck.
Our tip is to use the school locator tool and plug in your address to see which school you are officially assigned to. From there, you can explore options if you want to, because sometimes the best fit is not the one the map picked for you.
All districts include three types of schools:
Public Schools
If you live in a neighborhood, you usually have access to the designated public school for that neighborhood. Each offers a School of Choice policy allowing children to attend schools outside of their school district if there is space available.Private Schools
The Conejo Valley and surrounding communities have many tuition-based private schools, including Oaks Christian School, which is a major private high school in the area and competes with some of the best in all Southern California.Magnet Schools
The district also has magnet schools for those seeking alternative learning, with theme-focused schools that specialize in the arts, science, leadership, and more. The schools are run by the public-school system and are free of charge, with applicants chosen through a lottery system based on available space.Adult Schools
