The Two Westlake Villages
There’s more to buying in Westlake Village than just finding the perfect home. You need to know where in Westlake Village you are buying or you could end up in the wrong city! We’ll explain.
“Westlake Village” is a name given to two different cities in two different counties.
The City of Westlake Village is in Los Angeles County. So if being in the Conejo Valley School District is important to you, then you want to live on the Ventura County side.
The Ventura County side of Westlake Village is actually the City of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and not the City of Westlake Village at all!
The dividing line runs right through the middle of Westlake on La Venta Drive. That’s County Line.
What’s more, the golden gem of the Westlake Village area is Lake Sherwood, home to some of the most expensive and prestigious homes and the Lake Sherwood Country Club.
But they don’t have a Westlake Village address. Lake Sherwood is an unincorporated area of Ventura County so their address is…Thousand Oaks.
What? Depending on where you buy you could be in different counties, different cities, different Zipcodes, and different school districts!
Confused? Don’t worry. Folks around here just call it all Westlake Village!
